If you have some knowledge of the piano or keyboard but don’t know where to go then you may want to take a look at this. The Intermediate Worship Keyboards Course, by Musicademy, is an excellent box set to sharpen and hone your skills.

The Musicademy Intermediate Worship Keyboards Course is all about change. Its goal is to move you from a classical sheet music style of playing to a contemporary chords-based playing method. The lessons are taught with well known worship songs and will have you developing rhythm, using melodic fills, passing tones, altered chords and more.

This is an interesting course which has much to offer. A couple areas I really enjoyed are the many well known artists that give plenty of tips to the aspiring musician…especially those in the worship field. There is also a section that covers strings, pads and the electric piano. One thing I didn’t care for was the repetition of the basics which was covered in their first course.

Conclusion:

Lesson Materials– The lesson materials are great. All three DVDs fit in one DVD box. The chord charts are located at their main website which is convenient to me. The lessons are also shot with a clear overhead view of the keyboard so you can see everything the instructor is doing.

Lesson Instruction – They do an excellent job of presenting the piano as a chord based instrument. They take off pretty quick being that some of the material covered in the first disk was covered in their beginner’s course.

Fun Factor– These are awesome when it comes to fun. It’s not always easy to find a band to practice with. These DVDs give you just that. Once again, the song selections are great. If you are into praise and worship music you’ll know these songs and you’ll have a blast playing them. My only downfall was the beginner material that was gone over. This was only a tiny portion of the first DVD so it only took away from the fun factor slightly.

Rating:

Value– The box set with all three intermediate DVDs can be had for under $80. This piano course is structured for a years’ worth of piano lessons. I think they are worth every last penny!

This is another excellent worship keyboard course by Musicademy. Some of the basics are reviewed which is helpful if you haven’t gone through their beginners course yet. It will leave you at an advanced intermediate level but you do not have to fear because they have more songs that you can directly download at their website which will push your keyboard skills even further.

The instructional material is solid and presented in an enthusiastic manner. The songs are inspiring. The skills learned are indispensable. If you’ve always wondered how to play worship piano with a band or how to accompany a singer then this is it. If you only want to add to your worship playing skills or feel the need for some new lesson materials this is worth giving a try.
